Here are some write ups on New World teams that have participated in free agency. hope to have Old World write ups soon
VANCOUVER TRIDENTTop 6 picks:CB Chance Robak
QB Jaxson Bowers
MLB MIles Voorhes
CB Daniel Lasher
WR Felix Babin
RG Billy Arakaki
At a glance: The Trident have drafted young and seem to be aiming for contention in 3 to 4 seasons. Team has pristinely balanced position distribution. By using 5 of their first 16 picks on the offensive line, they have a formidable barrier to give rookie QB Bowers (43rd pick) enough time to find WR Babin or one of their second rate speedsters. Speedy defensive line hopes to create chaos in the backfield.
Need: Zone coverage skills at the safety level.
Eyes on in camp: CB Daniel Lasher & LT Ace Shackleford. If both of these players have a good camp, Vancouver will enjoy a top tier offensive line and starting cornerbacks for a decade.
CALGARY POWERTop 6 picks:WR Sylvester Slone
CB Harry Valenti
RDE Christopher Martin
WR Danny Collier
MLB Ralph Bryan
DT Richard Cramer
At a glance: The Power used their early picks on defense and the passing game. Taking QB Hung Aguinaldo with the ninth pick signals a win now approach, and by taking another younger QB with their 12th pick along with 3 WRs picked in their first 13 picks (including 8th overall pick WR Sylvester Slone) signals a strong commitment to the passing game.
Need: A running back. Would not be surprised to see Sylvester Sloan moved into the backfield.
Eyes on in camp: QB Steven Keyser needs a boom to address his accuracy concerns or he will struggle to earn snaps on any team. Calgary defensive coordinator Andrew Lyons may go through a 6 pack of whistles in an effort to boost all five of the defensive players with less than 5 years experience and 70+ volatility. A fortunate outcome for him could put the Power in the top tier of defense right out of the gate.
QUEBEC KRAKENTop 6 picks:QB Shane Sharp (1st overall)
WR Guillermo Raymond
WR Todd Wilkerson
WR Earl Allen
WR James Blodgett
FS Mitchell Sword
At a glance: An all in, no fear investment into the passing game leaves no secrets regarding Quebecs intent. In addition to the first five picks used on receivers & Sharp, picks 12 through 16 were used on the offensive line.
Need: Threat from the backfield, a pass blocking center & secondary help. A hodge podge group of running backs led by an aging Robert Knowlton will be expected to alleviate pressure in order to unlock a possibly elite passing attack. A trade for a top tier running back would make a lot of sense. FS Mitchell Sword & CB Boomerang Jetson are gonna have an extensive workload. Look for the Kraken to use future draft picks on secondary.
Eyes on in camp: The Kraken have a lot riding on the camp success of WRs Todd Wilkerson & Guillermo Raymond as well as offensive linemen RG Charles Castillo & LG Bruce Black.
PHILADELPHIA REVOLUTIONTop 6 picks:SS Robert Marvin
WR Damon Jenkins
LDE Krunk McGraw
WR Matthew Coleman
DT Adam Bryant
WLB Dwight Wilcox
At a glance: Philadelphia was lucky to land Robert Marvin with the 16th pick. Along with Wilcox & Bryant, the Revolution have a dependable young talent core and expect to be a perennial defensive force. This could be dangerous in tandem with an abundance of big play potential at wide out.
Need: RB Hotcakes Sampson needs to lay off the hotcakes and pick up speed but I feel that an immediate upgrade at QB will place Revolution in title contention.
Eyes on in camp: A defensive supernova could form if RDE McClendon, CB Slim Gordon & LDE Krunk McGraw all boom in camp.
CHICAGO BUTCHERSTop 6 picks:WLB Chuck Blade
RDE Hack Sawyer
QB William Cutting
CB Bone Carver
WR Paco Keys
CB Christopher Law
At a glance: Butchers drafted a young, stable and balanced squad that should be able to earn a USA trophy within a few years. QB William Cutting is in his prime now though, so the sooner the better.
Need: A running back. Expect to see WR to RB switch here - a booming Paco Keys would be a terrific option. Also need to inject speed into the secondary.
Eyes on in camp: WR Paco Keys & offensive line.
TIJUANA TIDETop 6 picks: WR Manny Pacquiao
CB Lee St. Croix
QB Derrick Koepke
CB Truman Lockhart
RT Fence Smith
WR John Isaacson
At a glance: The Tide have a stacked defensive line and potential dynamic duo at cornerback, however a lack of talent at safety and linebacker may provide attack points for opposing offenses. Koepke and Pacquiao hope to hook up early and often, but need a sure-handed backfield threat to keep pressure on the defensive box.
Need:Secondary help. Plenty of speed in the defensive secondary but not much skill.
Eyes on in camp: WLB Mark Lago & WR Manny Pacquiao
BUENOS AIRES GAUCHOSTop 6 picks:RB Quentin Osborne
MLB Carlton Price
RB Donald Mitchell
WR Dennis Greenspan
QB Robert Williams
CB Enrique Gilbert
At a glance: The Gauchos have drafted an age balanced team and look to enter contention in their first season. Much of their success will depend on the progress of their first two picks, Osborne & Price. Using their first two picks on such volatile players indicates a “go for it” attitude in Buenos Aires.
Need: Better run blocking on the offensive line and a fast defensive end.
Eyes on in camp: Osborne & Price are potential hall of famers. Many volatile players on this roster. Booms for RDE Claude Griffin & CB Enrique Gilbert could result in a top tier defense.
SAO PAULO CHOPPERSTop 6 picks:QB Aaron Clark
RB Walter Vanderpool
WLB Robert Newcomb
DT Francis Darby
RB Thomas Robles
MLB Joseph Fowler
At a glance: Selecting a QB entering his prime with first pick & an 11 year veteran with their forth pick shows intentions of immediate contention. Selecting two running backs with first five picks, four full backs with picks 13 - 16 and a total of 12 ball carriers total (7 full backs!) hints that they intend to contend via the run game. Running the ball in their direction should be a challenging task thanks to the Choppers strong linebacker corps.
Need: Speed all around. Among the slowest teams if not the slowest.
Eyes on in camp: CB Jesse Dinges is gonna need some help in the secondary...we will see if he can help himself in camp
ROSARIO GUAZUESTop 6 picks:DT Nahuel Nunez
WLB Jose Carlos Isern
FB Daniel Luis Rosado
RB Leonardo Manuel Garcia
C Kenneth Barrios
RG Justin Thiessen
At a glance: The Guazes went all in on youth and volatility, drafting 35 rookies & 34 players with 70+ VOL. Their first ten picks were mostly low VOL players. Their top 20 picks were used primarily on defense and offensive line (expect Rosado to switch OL), signaling a focus on ground and pound. They were the third team to take a kicker.
Need: Speed. Among the slowest teams in the league. Also need more talent in a dismal secondary unit, expect teams with downfield playmakers to put up big numbers.
Eyes on in camp: Almost the entire team. If there is a 50/50 boom/bust rate, Rosario will have plenty of young talent to build around but lots of assembly needed
