training camp results

Ultimate Legends RO is ready to kick off a new season. good luck to all

a few notes on training camp results:

* 5 rookies emerge from training camp with 2600 trade scores.

#1 pick RDE Clyde Rivers went -4 in camp but is still a force for the 86ers

#3 pick RB Billy Bojangles had a minor improvement for the Anchors who traded their first
and two starting linebackers with the Golden Eagles to move up

#7 pick Desmond Floyd went just +2 despite having a 88 volatility rating. Bushmasters WR
corps is among the deepest in the league

Street Urchins and Jaguars use their second round picks wisely on the O Line. Panama City
C Amadeus Reed is a monster with 99 strength and potential 100 run & pass blocking.
Oxford land LG Harley Davidson who also has potential 100 run & pass blocking with the 49th
overall pick. nice one

* Zippers and Street Urchins each draft a starting K with consecutive picks in the 7th round.
nice work dudes......Kickers are so important in RO

* Zippers had an amazing 17 rookies report to training camp and 12 of them went positive. 5 of
them went +5 or more

* the steal of the draft may go to my own Lions who used the 92nd overall pick on volatile
Washington QB C.J. Calloway who went +13. time will tell, but if he continues to boom, which it
seems plausible, he will be a top tier QB in a few seasons. we are thrilled here in Lagos

* another great steal belongs to the 86ers who drafted LG Dana Carlton with the 162nd pick. he
went +11 and is predicted to be a starter out of the gate. the 86ers very well may have had the
best draft. their 7 total picks went a combined + 28 which includes #1 pick Clyde Rivers -4

* the Butchers also had a terrific draft. they entered 10 rookies who went a combined +23. the
stars of this bunch will likely be fourth round pick RDE Delitray Honeycutt and first round pick
WLB Bennie Blades

* the Rodeo may have had the most disastrous draft.....they acquired three first round picks and
used them all on 66+ volatility players who all busted. #2 overall pick LDE Stephen F. Austin
will still be a force after going -6 while SS T Bone Pickens (-15) & TE Billy Gibbons (-20,
biggest bust of draft) will likely be starters, but a combined - 41 for three first rounders will
likely get the GM fired. a lesson here....try not to use first rounders on volatile players...save
them for later rounds if possible

* despite 2nd round pick CB Marvin Russels -16 result, the Tide had themselves a productive
draft. seven of their rookies turned positive and all seem to have a future in the league.

* the perennial contending Gauchos first round pick WR Rodney Morgan busts hard (-17, 98
VOL) but they add a K, a FS and a DT to ease the wound

* the Choppers rebuilding efforts suffer a setback as just three of their ten rookies come out of
camp with a plus (-28 total). but dont spend any sympathy on them.....they have an astounding
16 draft picks lined up for 2073 with 11 of them in the first three rounds. amazing. then
they have 11 with 7 being in the first three rounds for 2074. 27 picks in next two drafts with
18 in the first three rounds

* Tornadoes top three picks combine to go -30

* the Owls went with low VOL picks and end up with 5 backups

* Pirates find treasure with their 6th round pick. Idaho product SS Richard Hummel (98 VOL)
goes +15 and is expected to compete for a starting spot. nice one

* the Heroes first round pick (# 9 overall, first QB) Terrence Rigby goes +4 and is already
slated to become the starter. sources say promising Ulaanbaatar QB Charles Huff is
already demanding a trade

* the champs are engaging in an interesting experiment. Webster Payne played linebacker
during his time at Ashland University, but was drafted by the Stampede as a CB with the 8th
pick of second round. he entered camp 31% above weight with 83 max speed, but is now 24%
above weight with a 85 max speed. according to calculations processed by my quantum
computer, he will achieve a max speed of 91/92 if he continues to lose weight. combine this
with his +7 out of camp and it looks like they may have gotten a monster. not sure if he can
continue to lose weight....doesnt seem healthy

* Deities enter 14 rookies in camp but dont come out with much. Mick Reynolds was the fastest
CB with skills in draft and RT Herman Flood seems to be a starter on the weakest O line in the
league but that is about all outside some backups. second round pick TE
Christopher Benson earns the award of largest decline with -25
in camp

* the Sharks went high VOL and crapped out. they drafted 5 players +80 VOL and each of them
declined by a total of -71. ****! tough break. dont like to see that happen but thats the way
the dice roll sometime. better luck next draft, DemonMaster

* Anchors get a nice player late with their 5th rounder in RG Digger Graves who will start soon

* mixed reviews in Manila but there is no denying the potential of WR
Peter Turner. He is now the leagues only WR with at least 95 max speed and a trade
value above 450, which he doubles with 900. hes gonna cause
problems for defenses for a decade

TOP TIP

For those that had disappointing drafts or need to add some depth. It's always worth looking at how the undrafted free agent rookies got on with their off season 'unofficial' training camps.

There's a few 'boomers' in there, nothing of great quality at this point but they could develop if you have the patience

Tornadoes top three picks combine to go -30

It never rains but it pours.

My 1.6 pick went -6 on 46 Vol but is still a starter-level talent.
I was offline when the AI picked a 98 Vol tackle at 2.7, something I have done in the past but really didn't need a tackle this year, bad pick and worse result (-11).
3.6 was another AI pick, and I'd much rather have taken the Heroes WR who went 3 picks later (91 Str/Spd).

After a good expansion draft our three subsequent first round picks have all busted, and in Roster-only leagues you need your top picks to at least break even. My guys are still decent starters but you need more than that to step up in the standings.
