Through 4 weeks we are down to 2 undefeated teams the Gauchos being the only team at 4-0 and the Revolution sitting at 3-0-1. The Choppers and 86ers are still looking for that first win.
The Jaguars haven't gotten off to the start they were hoping for after a 12-4 season but they got a win this week over the Dire Wolves and both teams now sit at 2-2. The Jaguars weren't able to make much of any improvement this offseason as they focused on renegotiating what they already have. They have also decided they only need 45 players. The Dire Wolves don't want to see another .500 season like the first two.
The Deities played some great defense this week holding the Butchers to just a FG. The Deities lost both of their QBs last season and have replaced them with 2 rookies. They have decided to play their 2nd round QB over their 1st round QB so far. Their offense struggled their first 3 weeks as most rookie QBs do. Improving on that 9-7 record they have had the past 2 seasons will be difficult with a rookie QB but they have plenty of potential for the future. The Butchers are looking forward to their first home game of the season next week.
The Power have no trouble this week with the Bushmasters as QB Brandon Watts throws 3 INTs and their rookie RB fumbled 3 times luckily they only lost 1 of those. Watts with 48 pass accuracy has started every game for the Bushmasters so far. I think it might be time for a change.
The Strongbows went up early on the Tornadoes with back to back TDs to start the game and it was over as soon as it started. The Strogbows are off to a good start at 3-1, but I can't say the same for the tornadoes.
The Golden Eagles were able to get their first win this season. Kicking a few FGs is all they needed to beat the Kraken who made a lot of moves this offseason. The Kraken have to be disappointed after making all those moves and then losing to a team like the Golden Eagles.
The Trident got very lucky this week to get passed the Tide who needed a 2 point conversion to tie it up with 1 minute left. The Tide needed 2 yards and got 1. Then the Trident were able to recover the onside kick. Both teams have had some very close division races the past 2 seasons but the Trident have won both years and the Tide have been a wild card both seasons.
The Gauchos just barley remain undefeated. The Bayhawks tied it up with 32 seconds left. It looked like OT was inevitable with 3rd and 9 with 7 seconds on the wrong side of the field. Then the Gauchos new rookie RB caught the ball at the line of scrimmage and took it 22 yards setting up a 55 yard FG for the win. The Gauchos also beat the Bayhawks in the playoffs last season on a last minute TD. The year before the Bayhawks beat the Gachos in OT for the conference championship.
The Revolution also needed a last second FG to remain undefeated. Salty took on a project when he took over the Choppers so it isn't very surprising to see the choppers lose their first 4 games. The team had 5 total wins their first 2 seasons.
The Owls didn't exactly make it easy on themselves this week as they turned it over 3 times and allowed over 400 yards of offense to the 86ers. But the Owls were still the better team and the 86ers are still looking for their first win.
The Guazues have been frustrated with their new head coach so far but they had no problem with the Rodeo. 19 of 48 players for the Rodeo are rookies so they will be struggling a lot this season.
The Spires had 5 wins the first 2 seasons but were able to win their first 3 games this year. They lost the the Street Urchins this week because their kicker missed a last minute extra point that would have sent it to OT. It looks like I will get to see if the Spires are for real next week when they come to Brazzaville.
Speaking of Brazzaville we got a win over our rival Lagos on a last second FG. Not the way I wanted to get it but a win is a win. Frank said that his QB Tito Santana was on the hot seat and might be looking for a trade but after week 1 he was able to pick up Thomas Webb who could be a better option. Thomas has good attributes but he had just 10 TDs and 26 INTs for the Manta Rays before he was cut.
The Kings made a QB change after Christopher Silcox took them to 15 wins in a row and a post season win. He threw 27 TDs and 5 INTs last season. This was said after last season.
Another congratulations to Kings QB Cristopher Silcox for winning the 2070 MVP for the regular season. His stats were better than Robert Williams aside from the sacks and 250 yards passing. plus, the Kings were 15-0....surprising to me that a team almost went undefeated in only the second season after an allocation draft in a league full of heavyweights. he seems poised to be a perennial contender
. The Kings decided to go with John Cromartie as their QB this season the team has started 1-3. Cromartie has thrown 1 TD and 9 INTs. The Kings did get their first win of the season this week over the Sharks despite turning the ball over 3 times.
The Manta Rays get their first win of the season by shutting out the Anchors.
The Heroes lost to themselves this week giving the Pirates a free win. The Heroes missed 2 FGs in the 4th quarter. Thomas Foreman didn't want to make it too easy for his kicker so he gave them a false start penalty to give him a 56 yard FG which he missed in the las seconds of the game.
The Prizefighters scored a TD and FG on their last 2 drives of the 4th quarter to tie it up with the Zippers. After the Prizefighters got a stop their QB decided that the Zippers needed a little help so he threw the ball to the Zippers to set the Zippers up in FG range for the win.
