cheers to the kick off of another season

while we are on the subject of kicking......the leagues kickers combined for seventeen missed field goals in our first week of action.......get it together guys

QB Brandon Watts has now achieved offensive player of the week recognition two weeks in a row (also made list week 16 of 2070). his 24/28 3TD 0 INT performance is the best game of his career and has the Bushmasters off to a positive start in 2071 as they take a victory during their visit to Mexico City. MLB Rudolph Drayton continues to be the leagues best playmaker on defense. his 4th quarter interception gives Watts the keys to throw for two touchdowns in the final 3 minutes of this thriller. WR Jason Eades continues to be a big time playmaker despite his moderate speed.............the Spires top the Street Urchins in their own yard thanks to a two touchdown first quarter and three first half TD receptions from WR Justin Orsini. Orsinis 3 TD receptions totaled a whopping 5 yards! Oxford RB Artful Dodger needed just 9 carries to get 100 yards and a TD but also coughed up the rock twice on the wrong side of the field. i suppose there is no correct side of the field to fumble on, but the worst time to fumble could very well be the first play from scrimmage, which he managed to do in this contest. Oxfords hopes of a rebound season are off to a shaky start and the Spires look to win more games in 2071 then they have in first two season combined..........the Tornadoes defeat the Guazues in a rather uneventful game. its difficult for a team to win when their first 8 possessions result in punt punt punt punt punt punt punt fumble for 67 yards. i imagine a coaching change will be unavoidable if Rosario cant right the ship.........Owls K Sam Good sends a chip shot wide right late in the fourth as the Gauchos hold on for a win in their ring presentation game (88% capacity). Good has surprisingly lackluster career stats despite having the top ranking attributes for a kicker. he is currently the 4th highest rated kicker on my board yet is statistically below the middle of the pack. they have all the talent to be a contender this season. it will be interesting to see if they stick with him. Athens press is referring to him as Sam Mediocre..........the Revolution start what they hope to be their breakthrough year with a narrow win in Houston. it appears Philadelphia HC Mitchell Smith will be sticking with RB David Steinberg at RB1 despite his fumbling woes (22 fumbles in two seasons but zero in this game). CB Slim Gordon shines in this one with 5 KnkDn on 8 ThrnAt & 1 CthAlld plus a sack to boot yet gets no defensive player of the week honors from the program. i got you buddy!...........the Choppers lose their first game in what appears to be a deep rebuild under new ownership. Sao Paulo has an amazing cache of picks in the next two drafts and i expect to see them close to the cellar for this season. none of this is mentioned to take the light off of the Butchers victory. other than FB Robert Ruizs two first half fumbles they played a sound, efficient game. former MVP QB William Cutting has an MVP type of game with 309 Yds and 2 TDs on just 27 passes. the Butchers are my pick for team most likely to bust my playoff predictions...........the Bayhawks swoop in for a victory in Lagos as the Lions fail to rebuttal an early fourth quarter field goal. this one started fast with speedy WR Harold Graves taking a play action slant from QB Klondike Klopp to the house on just the second play from scrimmage. Lions QB Tito Santana throws interceptions on both the first and last possession in what seems to have been a winnable game otherwise. He appears to be on the hot seat. But, with an aging QB Reggie Gunn the only other current option in uniform, it seems the Lions are gonna have to make a trade in order to contend this season...........the Dire Wolves protect the house from the Kraken. WR James Bopps 55 yard TD in the second quarter proves to be the game winner. Krakens offensive big three (QB Sharp, RB Osborne & WR Raymond) are held in check through out the match. strange drive chart in this one as i can not find how the Kraken are credited with a -11 yd TD near the two minute warning of fourth quarter. a bug i suppose. Quebec has a chance to even the score in week 3. expect the Kraken to rebound from this one. they seem to have among the weakest strength of schedule this season.............the Tide are victorious after taking a 14 point lead into halftime and playing the second half on ground and pound autopilot. Jakarta struggled to get anything going on the ground and were forced to rely on a largely fruitless air attack.........the Prizefighters surprise the Anchors with an upset in Aukland behind the booming leg of K Boomer Legaspi. this one was sloppy for the Anchors and a rough start for first pick of the second round K Joshua Hastings as misses both of his FG attempts. keep your head up, buddy........a poor opening crowd for the first ever game in Ulaanbaatars Skytel Stadium (57%) as the Power travel 5,180 miles and seal the deal with an 80 yd QB Steven Keyser to WR Danny Collier connection with 5 mins to go in the fourth. during print of this write up a new owner for Ulaanbaatar was announced, so the Heroes do win in a way. they are now in good hands with tripc.......the Deities complete a difficult task in shutting out the Zippers in what i hope will be the most boring game of the year....no action here. worthy of note, Zippers WLB Rickey McCoy records 16 tackles, not bad for a guy with a trade score of 47.......even after being down by one in the second quarter, the Stampede decimate the visiting 86ers as QB Dennis Cobb has a perfect game. Brazzaville punts just twice as they cut through Johannesburgs defensive like a hot knife through butter while providing stonewall defense (with the exception of a well put together 86er drive in the second quarter). it seems that the Stampede are for real and the program agrees as they shoot to the top of the provided power rankings. this is your notice. dont invite your players families when Brazzaville is in town.......the Strongbows hold on to win despite being shutout in the second half. newly acquired QB Charles Lair wins his first start in his quest to validate his handsome contract............the Jaguars fly north to Vancouver and leave with a win behind K Joel Richardsons three field goals in another classic MFN RO snoozer. the Jaguars are tough team.........in the upset of the week, the Pirates defend the Kings advances to claim victory. a second quarter blitz strip sack resulting in a TD for Shanghai https://uro.myfootballnow.com/watch/650#108327 was the pivotal moment here as the Kings goal of improving on last seasons record is squashed out of the gate. the loss is now the Kings 3rd loss in last 4 games (including playoffs) after winning 15 in a row

i was glad to have a day off from work and to be able to do a write up, but it seems these instances will be fewer and further between as business returns to normal. i was already busy when operating at 50%! ill do what i can. awest827 has informed me that he will be unable to help with it for a few cycles, so if anyone would like to give it a go please do. i feel it makes the league more interesting

Horrible!! Everything that we have been improving game by game, we did it wrong, a very frustrating and very bad game to start badly the illusions of week 1, I hope the second game will show something more or it will become a loooong season

I wouldn't put too much stock in starts, I've started 2-0 in every season but my records were 3-12-1 and 5-11 and TBD.

Week 2 we improved a little bit, we left the Champions without TD and we were very close to a TD that the game could have given us, and we were always close on the scoreboard.
