thank you to all for another competitive season

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2070 ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN WINNING BUENOS AIRES GAUCHOS!

excellent work, shavar......through two seasons your team is tops in my book. QB Robert Williams and WR Dennis Greenspan both had an amazing game. if a WR has a big game, so does the QB....therefore WRs often miss the nod....so in this game i give 2070 Ultimate Showdown MVP to WR Dennis Greenspan.....160 yards and three TDs on just 7 catches.....agree?

another congratulations to Kings QB Cristopher Silcox for winning the 2070 MVP for the regular season. his stats were better than Robert Williams aside from the sacks and 250 yards passing. plus, the Kings were 15-0....surprising to me that a team almost went undefeated in only the second season after an allocation draft in a league full of heavyweights. he seems poised to be a perennial contender

most improved team goes to the Brazzaville Stampede, who managed to win 5 more games than they did in 2069 en route to taking the Africa division with ease. nice work, awest827. also nice work with helping keep the league interesting with write ups.....i truly appreciate it. runner up most improved team goes to the Jaguars

most disappointing team was the Mexico City Golden Eagles. after narrowly winning the M/CA division with a 10-6 record and advancing to Contenders vs Favorites round in 2069, they inexplicably parted ways with HC Wm Webster (who went on to lead the Stampede, see above) in favor of Ultimate Legends RO's first female HC Elisha Ryant who managed just 2 victories. hopefully this is just a lag phase and they will re enter contention soon

the Canada division again proves to be a bona fide battleground. in our two seasons the division has produced just one team below 500 (barely) with the Trident managing to win the division back to back (barely)

the Trident, Gauchos and Anchors are the only teams to repeat as divisional champs. the Anchors managed to do so with an unimpressive two season record of 17-14-1

according to my team of expert analysts, the Revolution remain on the cusp of serious contention. they led the league in both yards per carry and yards allowed per carry, which is a difficult task in a competitive league, yet they just missed the playoffs. QB Maxwell Akers seems to have the tools to help them get over the hump in his sophomore season. RB David Steinberg had what looks like a great season in replacing RB Hotcakes Sampson at RB1, but it is impossible to ignore his 12 fumbles. in two seasons he has amassed 22 fumbles, good for second all time behind Tide RB Richard Braswells 26. must hold onto the ball! peep the combined record of teams on top in turnover margin for an easy glimpse at its importance

the Zippers were undefeated this year if their three games vs the Kings are omitted. Toyama is no joke. ive seen g10rsh at work in other leagues and i can tell you he is one to be aware of. he has a knack for finding highly efficient QBs for all his MFN squadrons. ive tried to study the traits of the QBs that he choses, but i cant find anything that i am not already aware of (cough, pass accuracy is really important, cough cough*). in this season, the Zippers switched out QBs midseason despite an obvious post season trajectory.....bold move leading to the Zippers suiting 2 of the 4 QBs able to manage a plus 100 rating on the year. how does he do it? what is the formula? it appears QB Wendall Yardley will be the man in Toyama moving forward after a long term contract agreement. QB Ben Luna appears to be heading towards free agency. i hope he ends up on the Bushmasters

* of the 16 QBs that had a rating higher than 80, 13 had a current pass accuracy of 75+. of the three that didnt, two (86ers QB Robert Welch & Power QB Steven Keyser) have future pass accuracy ratings of 94 & 88

so there will be no requirement for teams to field a QB with a certain rating as previously discussed, but the writing is on the wall..........if you want to compete, get a QB with a passer rating higher than 75. we can see that a high pass rating does not guarantee success, but we can see successful teams have a QB with a passer rating of 75+. every team with a winning record in 2070 had a QB with a current pass accuracy of 75+ (exception being the Strongbows, who won the inaugural Ultimate Showdown with QB Roger Falcone sporting a passer rating of 69 to provide a strong counterpoint to my insistence)

the Bushmasters WR Jason Eades had a phenomenal year. really something when considering QB Brandon Watts accuracy woes. week 17 was amazing for them..... Brandon Watts was chosen by the program as player of the week in an absolute 37-3 beatdown of Mexico City. that was really in my face.......a direct middle finger to my proposed QB accuracy rating mandate of which Watts was the muse. the fact that it happened in the last game before mandate proposal was to take effect was a nice touch for sure.......mandate is scrapped now

but the constant remains......low completion percentage leads to many three & outs which leads to minimal time of possession. if you dont believe me, check to see which players played the most plays in 2070......6 of the top 9 are Bushmasters defensive players. on the plus side, San Jose MLB Rudolph Drayton is an absolute monster. he forced 7 fumbles and recovered 5, leading the league in both. on top of his 125 tackles, 15 knockdowns, 2 INTs & 45.5 Alld % he wins defensive player of the year and deserves a rest

the 2-14 Choppers will be choosing first in upcoming draft. seems to me that they need a QB and cant afford to pass on Texas QB John Blakely despite his high volatility unless they land one in FA. they could also go for Georgia Tech RB Kevin Logan for a safe upgrade at RB to improve their dismal run game (2.7 yards per carry, good for 31st)

i would like to see all your draft boards as i am sure they are mostly different than mine. mine shows that most of the highly rated prospects are on the volatile side followed with a drop off in typical first round talent after the tenth pick (my pick i think). i havent gotten deep into the pool, but i suspect many gems will be found in the mid rounds this go round

cheers to all. i look forward to another great season. if you would like to have another roster only squad, join https://atnfl.myfootballnow.com/. its currently a dying league without an admin but i really like the team i have and would like to kick some more buttocks....just need volunteers

will have a 2071 outlook up at some point before 2071 kick off
