One thing about this though is that you can reposition a player that has no chance of reaching the weight for that position, so they'll still have a weight/speed advantage despite being positioned correctly.
this is true and thank you for pointing that out
the way i see it is that each player has a list of positions that he can play (to be found on each players card). i figure its fair game for that player to transition to any of the available since they are available. some players have many positions available while some have little
also, if we were to introduce weight restrictions for positions, i feel it would make being admin a bit more involved than i am comfortable with. i do not wish to review rosters and game logs to ensure compliance or mediate any disputes. those doors are best to remain closed. owners have been able to change players to any position for the enirety of this leagues existance. the purpose of this rule alteration is to prevent players being put into depth charts slots that do not match the players position. before, the rule only covered a few positions known to be prone to out of position exploits, but now it includes each position and all RBs, DEs & TEs
in the end it remains a level playing field, the same rules apply to everyone and everyone has the ability to change a players position. i encourage owners to find advantages and experiment. teams do this in real life. i aim to have as little rules as possible
i have read that in some league a rule had to be made to not switch a player back and forth to keep the weight low. example being a player who is able to play DE & CB and repostioning him every other game to keep the speed up while they are on defensive line. dont do this. i dont wanna make a rule...... just please dont do this. lets use the honor system and help keep issues off the admins desk. im sure everyone can agree that it gets real annoying when the honor system breaks down
