PR glitch...still a thing

By Big Poppa

I thought this might go away after 042 was rolled out, but it's still happening.
Shouldn't a PR man to run away from tacklers, instead of jumping into their arms?
I don't even remember the last time I saw a PR for a TD...do they still happen?

To be fair, it does seem better...but it still happens.

I've seen a few returns taken all the way, but not too many.

My biggest issue with the punt returns is that sometimes the return man will run toward the sideline. In the animation it appears that his body is facing the sideline when he catches it so he just starts running that way. So even though he runs for 10-15 yards it's still a 0 yard return.

I see this on almost every punt return. If I had to guess, wildly speculate, I would bet that the algorithm that uses Kick Catch to catch the ball and accelerate away is off so that high Kick Catch players immediately accelerate, but in the wrong direction.

Well, thanks for the input but...whatever the algorithm is doing, its wrong and needs to be addressed. It's aggravating to see a return man run directly at a tackler instead of trying to avoid him.

What is happening is that the algorithm is scoring his attempt to run around the oncoming opponent higher than trying to run through them. I do agree that there needs to be some work done on this, and it will be a focus of a future release - but I would rather have it this way than the way it was previously where there were way too many TD runbacks.

Punt Returns got ruined when all the changes were made to appease the owners that didn't want to give up TDs, but also didn't want to have to do anything to stop them (like actually taking the time to set their depth chart properly).

Amen...same thing happened with sacks. People cried about too many sacks instead of building a decent offensive line.

What controls that INT or Kick Catch? In other words, do I want my stupidest player returning kicks now? Or the one that is most likely to drop the punt catch, but most likely to have a decent return?

Lets be honest lol it went from if you were backed up near your end zone and forced to punt you had a 60% chance the other team was scoring a TD to now a 99% chance the punt return is going nowhere no matter where the team is punting from. (even at their own goalpost!)

Only if you didn't have the right players on your punt coverage unit.

I very rarely ever gave up PR TDs (along with many other owners), while at the same time others were complaining they could never stop them.

For the most part, the common difference between the teams that gave up TDs and those that didn't were the players on the coverage teams.
